For your Halloween pleasure, here is a deleted scene from EFRN. On Friday, you'll have either another one...or a teaser for Ch. 14. I'm just taking this week as it comes and we'll see what happens! ;)
Cut from Chapter 9
I had originally planned on giving Mrs. Weasley more of a shock when she finally discovered all our happy couples. Like, near heart attack shock. Instead of finding out all at once, as she does in the final draft, she was planned to discover Harry and Ginny sharing a heated moment, bringing a fair amount of hilarity to the Burrow as Ginny ends up outing Ron and Hermione as an attempt to divert attention.
Anyway, I was half way through this idea when I started thinking that perhaps that sort of thing was a little too over the top- hilarious, lol, but just a tad too much. So I just lessened the weight of the scene; the final cut being a bit more to the point.I wish I hadn’t gotten rid of the mention of Hermione thinking about seeing Ron changing, lol, ‘cause I think it’s cute, but perhaps in another chapter…???
Here is the first half of the scene- basically showing everyone else going about their business before the Wrath of Mrs. Weasley hits. It was also going to be helpful in getting in more plot points, but there are always other chapters! Anyway, it’s not that bad of a read, lol, so here we go:
“Go change in my room if it bugs you that much,” Ginny said, raising a hand and waving him off.
“I’m too comfortable to move.”Ron grumbled at her under his breath as he got up and collected some clothes from his dresser.
Hermione stood up and waited until he had everything before following him out the door.
”We’ll be down in a bit,” Harry called after them.
”You’d better,” snarled Ron over his shoulder; Harry and Ginny laughed.
He and Hermione reached Ginny’s door. Ron went in to change and Hermione waited for him on the landing, still a bit pink in the face from what Ginny had said. In all honesty, it wasn’t that she hadn’t ever seen Ron without his clothes before; she vividly remembered his bare chest even while she was trying to tend to his splinched arm. But that was in different circumstances. For now when she recalled how Ginny had said that she wouldn’t have minded seeing Ron change, her face flushed again in embarrassment… primarily because it was partly true…
“Ready?” Ron said, coming out in a short sleeve top and jeans.
“Yeah,” Hermione said, turning her face slightly away from him; she flushed even more at the thought of him knowing what she was thinking…
They walked down into the kitchen, saying “Good Morning” to Percy, Charlie, and Mr. Weasley, who were at the table with plates of food in front of them, and also to Bill and Fleur, who were standing along the counter with a coffee cup each; they had obviously fulfilled their promise to Mrs. Weasley and came back to the Burrow early.
Ron and Hermione each took a plate and got their servings of bacon, fried eggs, toast and sausages before sitting side by side at the table.
“Where’s the rest of you?” Bill asked Ron and Hermione. Ron glanced at Hermione nervously, before stuffing an extra large piece of toast in his mouth in order to avoid the question. Hermione thanked his avoidance to the question by stepping hard on his foot.
“Still sleeping, I suppose,” Hermione said without missing a beat. “And I think Ginny went to go wake up Harry.”
They continued to eat, Ron and Hermione listening in as the others discussed an article in the Daily Prophet.
“Apparently, Minerva is catching a little bit of flack for keeping the school open for its final month,” Mr. Weasley said, is brow furrowed slightly as he scanned the newslines
“From who?” Charlie asked roughly. “Oh, Rita Skeeter of course,” Bill replied. “I read that earlier. It’s a wonder they haven’t sacked her yet. She’s the only one who can still create something negative to say after everything.”
“It’s the right thing to do,” Percy said from over his bacon. “Shows progress and the sense of continuing life. And isn’t it really just to finish repairing Hogwarts and for the fifth and seventh years to take their exams? What’s a few more weeks before they would have been out on vacation anyway?””She is a ‘orrible person,” Fleur said. “I wish zat I could walk right up to ‘er and say-“
But what exactly Fleur wanted to say to Rita Skeeter was cut off as a scream rang from the top floor of the house.
”GINNY WEASLEY! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING!?”
Those who had taken a bite of food at that moment needed a thump on the back from their neighbor, but Ron and Hermione both let their forks clatter noisily from their hands, Ron’s bouncing to the floor.
“You don’t think-“ Hermione said, her eyes wide as she stared at Ron.”Well,” Ron said weakly, his face slightly pale, “we knew she’d find out at some point.”
Moving at the same time, they stood from their chairs and ran out of the kitchen, several other pairs of feet hurrying behind them.

See you soon.
